Nepal reports 170 COVID-19 new cases, tally hits 1,212

KATHMANDU: May 30, Nepal on Friday reported 170 new COVID-19 cases. With this, the number of coronavirus positive cases has reached 1,212 in the country.

Among the infected, 165 are male and 5 female, according to Dr. Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population.

Spokesperson Dr. Devkota said that 28 cases in Jhapa, four in Saptari, four in Bara, five in Parsa, one in Sarlahi and currently at Patan Hospital, one from Myagdi, 10 from Banke, 51 from Kapilvastu, two in Nawalaparasi East, 56 from Rautahat, four from Sarlahi, one from Rupandehi and two in Dang have been reported in the last 24 hours.

Likewise, Dr. Devkota also confirmed the death of a youth who died in Nepal-India border area while heading back to his home district Arghakhanchi after tested coronavirus positive posthumously. The youth had died on May 23 in the Nepal-India border area while on his way back home.

Meanwhile, 206 people have been discharged from various hospitals after recovery so far.

Coronavirus has been spread to 52 of the 77 districts and all the Provinces of the country as of Friday.

Province 2 has the highest number of COVID-19 infected people. As many as 490 people have tested positive for the virus in all the eight districts of the Province.

The Gandaki Province has the lowest number of infected people 20 in five districts. Sudur Paschim Province has 21 cases in its seven districts, the health ministry said.

Likewise, the Province 1 has 157 infected in its eight districts, 44 in Bagmati Province in 12 districts, 443 in Province 5 in nine districts and 47 in Karnali Province in three districts.

Likewise, as many as 99,336 people are in different quarantines, and 1,000 are in isolation across the country.

A total of 127 people are in isolation in Province 1, 387 in Province 2, 22 in Bagmati Province, 18 in Gandaki Province, 383 in Province 5, 47 in Karnali Province and 16 in Sudurpaschim Province.

A total of 2,747 have been quarantined in Province 1, 16,678 in Province 2, 1,954 in Bagmati Province, 2,814 in Gandaki Province, 32,373 in Province 5, 17,005 in Karnali Province and 25,765 in Sudurpaschim Province.

So far, the country has reported six deaths — a 25-year-old man from Banke, a 29-year-old woman from Sindhupalchowk, a 41-year-old man from Gulmi, a 70-year-old man from Bara, and a 57-year-old man from Lalitpur, and a 34-year-old male from Arghakhanchi.

Earlier on Thursday, 156 new COVID-19 cases were reported taking the number of coronavirus positive cases to 1,042.
